”For a new era in which people and animals can live together in harmony”

Since its founding in 1967, Yamazaki Gakuen has been committed to the principles of " The Sense of Reverence " and " Self-Sustainability as a Professional " established by the Founder, Mr. Yamazaki Ryoju in 1967. The educational philosophy of "Live for Life" has been passed down to more than 15,000 graduates. In 2022, we will celebrate the 55th anniversary of our establishment.

In Japan, where the birthrate is declining and the population is aging, the shared environment surrounding people and companion animals is changing dramatically. Pets are not only the members of the family but are life partners. As veterinary medicine becomes more advanced and diversified, pet’s life expectancy is increasing, and veterinary nurses have become an indispensable part of the team encompassing veterinary medicine and veterinarians. The " Registered Veterinary Nurse Act " was legislated on June 28, 2019, and the first national examination will be held in the spring of 2023. Since the enactment of this law, the social status of veterinary nurses as professionals that our Founder envisaged has now been established.

Yamazaki University of Animal Health Technology opened in 2010 as the only university in Japan with the faculty of veterinary nursing (Faculty of Animal Health Technology). In the 2021 academic year, the university will have two new departments, the Department of Animal Health Technology and the Department of Human Animal Relations. In the same year, the Graduate School of Animal Health Technology, a master's program, was established, building on the university's 10-year history. In addition, since April last year, under the unprecedented circumstance of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been offering our students "Yamazaki Education Support Fund System" so that students can continue their studies without giving up on their dreams.

With a mission as a pioneer in veterinary nursing education, we are committed to the education and research of veterinary nursing in cooperation with the animal-related industries.
